Frequently asked questions
What is Appdor?
Appdor is a no-code database and internal-app builder. A team turns the way it already works into an app on its own data: grids, kanban boards, timelines, calendars, gantt charts, forms, dashboards and automated workflows. It runs as a hosted service, or on your own PostgreSQL with one Docker command.
Can I turn an Excel spreadsheet into an app?
Yes. Importing a spreadsheet accepts CSV, TSV, plain text, JSON and Excel-family workbooks (.xlsx, .xls and .ods); a Google Sheet works once exported as .xlsx or .csv. You see a preview with every column's name and type before anything is written. Formulas arrive as their last calculated values and need to be rebuilt as formula fields. The full walk-through is in Import a spreadsheet and get an app.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan is for one editor, and read-only viewers are free on every plan, at any number. There are no seat minimums. The current paid plans are on the pricing section of the homepage.
Do people who only look at the data need a paid seat?
No. A seat is counted only for a role that can change something. The Read-only role writes nothing, so a viewer never takes a paid seat. Who can see which rows explains the five roles and which of them count.
Can I run Appdor on my own server?
Yes. A self-hosted install is one container, one port and one volume, with Postgres, authentication, storage and the app together. It starts with a thirty-day Business trial; after that the data stays readable and exportable, and editing needs a licence. There is no free self-hosted plan. Running Appdor on your own server has the commands and what stays your job.
Where is my data stored?
In PostgreSQL: on the hosted service, or on your own server when you self-host. A self-hosted install can also point at a PostgreSQL database you already run. Where does this row live? covers why that matters.
Can I control who sees which tables and fields?
Yes. Every member of an app holds one of five roles (Owner, Admin, Builder, Editor and Read-only), and access can be set per table and per field. A hidden field is absent from what that person receives, not just hidden on screen. See Who can see which rows.
Can I see who changed a record, and undo it?
Yes. Open a record and choose Show activity: each change is listed with who made it, when, and the old and new values, and a single change can be reverted. Record history and revert shows each step.
Do I have to start from a blank table?
No. You can start from a ready-made app in the template gallery and grow it into your own system. Start from a template reads three of them closely.
Does Appdor charge for AI?
No. You bring your own AI provider key, and AI is never metered by Appdor.
Which languages is Appdor available in?
The interface is available in 36 languages.
